The First 24 Hours

At the end of the first 24 hours, 2008TPM Facebook had 72 members.

Today saw the Ron Paul forums begin moving toward discussions on strategies for third party victories.  The past few days were spent with the community divided amongst which candidates to support or not support.  Now it seems it seems to be coming  together.

There is talk of having a money bomb to create a fund to entice Obama and McCain to participate in fair debates.  The idea is to raise 1,000,000 dollars and donate it to a veterans charity on the condition the two establishment candidates participate.  While this idea may fizzle out, it’s encouraging to see the communities once again focus on real goals.

We’ve yet to see any viral videos promoting the Third Party Movement.  Surely they are on the way.  One of the most impressive features of this new world is the ability of a focused group of individuals to spread a message to other communities.

Why Can’t Revolutions Happen Over Night?

It’s 2008.  Media has failed.  The Government has failed.  Neither represent the people.  Our Monetary system is failing.  Congressional approval rating is at an all time low.  We have the least popular president in history.  We are engaged in three wars, with the drum beating for two more.  Neither “major” candidate offers any substantial change.

We are led to believe that there is no alternative, that there is no way a third party candidate can win.  Why is that perception so prevalent?  The polls show the third party candidates with “hopeless” numbers.  Why can’t an unknown candidate become known and popular in a few weeks?  It happens with songs.  It happens with videos.  Why can’t it happen with things of substance?

Now is the time for change.  We are the public voice, not the media.  We must convince people of that.  The vocal minority can become the majority when we put our voices online.

This is the experiment.  Can we convince the nation that we are the majority?  The tools available to us are brand new, never used.  Now is the time to learn.  America led a revolution before, and now we must do it again.  This is a historic time, if we choose make it.
